Princeton has a brand new store that we wanted to keep all to ourselves but had to share the fabulousity of it with you, because, well, we.re nice like that. jane is a new concept store which encourages our community to reuse, rethink & revitalize. jane carries beautiful consignment clothing, accessories, home goods, art & furniture, as well as sustainable, local & repurposed goods. the store is located in a stunning renovated space on spring street – just off witherspoon street.
We stopped in yesterday for a sneak peek and preview. There was a buzz in the air and the frenzy of a grand opening just days away. We wanted to share with you our inside scoop and faves.
Owners Jane and Isabelle (mother and daughter) couldn.t be friendlier. When asked about their inspiration they said, .We’ve always wanted to own a store, and we think there couldn’t be a better time or a better community to open this store. This (kind of) store should be whimsical and inspiring, and it should be in constant flux – each visit should be different, but we will always carry classics.”
The above photo is what you.ll be tempted by when you first enter the store. These cool green shelves hold all of the owner.s favorites. We loved the old book titled .How to Survive Parenthood. circa 1965 yours for $25. It was reassuring that parents were in survival mode back then as well! We also loved the .Mermaids Welcome. sign and think that will be snapped up by someone with a great beach house at the shore for sure.
Jane has a carefully curated collection of clothes both slightly worn and vintage. A custom Oscar de la Renta red gown (approx. size 6) still with tags is a whopping $1680 but comes with the guarentee there isn.t another like it in the world. Talk about making a splash a that upcoming holiday party. There was also a Bonwit Teller long fur coat for $200 and a short Burberry jacket in the mid $300.s. You.ll want to shop early and often for clothing as people are bring things in all the time. Their generously sized fitting rooms are papered with the coolest vintage wallpaper sourced from a secret NYC shop.
At jane, everything is for sale down to the fixtures. There are so many beautiful .found. objects you.ll need at least an hour to thoroughly explore. We loved the wooden vintage barrels that contained Patagonia fleece jackets and fell in love with the Jill Rosenwald turquoise lamp with striped shade ($225)
Vintage fabric pillows including these Marimekko prints were still without price tag as of yesterday. We could see them on a Navy couch in the family room or on a little boy’s bed.
A “not to be missed section” is the cabinet housing all kinds of Princeton memorabilia. Old books, postcards, mugs, and even these cool vintage BEAT YALE pins are fantastic gifts for your townie friends.
Manolo Blahniks, Louboutins, a brand new Louis Vuitton duffle ($785) and original artwork rounds out the robust offering at jane.
