Missed us? Well, it’s been too long since last we blogged, but let me be the first to say that we’re back and we’re oh-so happy to be here. We decided to take a blog-free break to recharge the old batteries, rest the writers’ muscles, you know, that old chestnut. So, what have we been up to all this time? Well, I assure you we haven’t been resting on our laurels (unless that means sitting for hours at a time on a hard, wooden desk chair at the computer trying to summon brilliance). The easiest way to recount our time apart is to do a list, natch, so here goes:
We’ve been tweaking. As you might have noticed, we’ve sprugged up the old Web site, given it a little facelift (think Demi Moore, not Joan Rivers), and prettified the blog so you can read the latest posts and easily search for past entries that may have tickled your fancy (or your funny bone).
We’ve been thinking. And we’ve decided that we need to hear more from you, dear reader, and thus we are opening up the PrincetonScoop blog forum to the community. For the aspiring Hemingways among you, the blog is now taking submissions: Have you located the most marvelous mojito? The coolest hiking trail? The perfect spot to just say “om?” Then, put your fingers to the keyboard (writing in the P.S. “spirit” is preferred) and e-mail us your inspired words at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll publish one post from our fabulously forward-thinking audience each week, and it could be you. Just a couple of things to keep in mind: We don’t do politics, religion, or US Weekly-style local gossip (despite the fact that I’ve recently renewed my own personal subscription to that particular celebrity rag).
We’ve been looking. Shutterbugs, take note: We all know how much there is to do in Princeton and beyond, but there’s even more to see (we have been known to snap the occasional picture ourselves and put it up on Facebook and Twitter). But now, we want to make the whole Ansel Adams routine official: Take a picture of anything that makes you happy in and around town, and e-mail it to us at email@example.com. We’ll pick one a week to post on the blog, and Facebook and Twitter.
We’ve been writing up a storm. I know I sound like a broken record, but if you haven’t done it already, make sure you get on the list for our weekly newsletters. Just because you visit our site doesn’t mean we magically know you want to read them; you’ve gotta actually sign up. As usual, the Events newsletter will give you the 411 on what’s going on in town every Thursday through Sunday. And we’ve souped up our Crave and Style newsletters (you’ll get one of the two each week) so you’ll have the inside line on how eating, drinking, and being stylish is done in our milieu. And to further whet your reading whistle, you can check out the latest incarnations of both here: Crave and Style.
And with that we begin a new era of the PrincetonScoop blog. We look forward to serving all of your local-culture needs. Would you like a side of fries with that?
