Explore Lake Mercer with the Mercer County Park Commission this Friday. Park Naturalists invite paddlers 16+ of all skill levels to tour the lake on kayak, checking out turtles, songbirds, lakeside wildflowers, and more. Best part? Saturday September 9
Bug out with the Master Gardeners of Mercer County at the Annual Insect Festival! Held in Pennington, the festival is an ‘afternoon of bees, butterflies, bugs and birds.’ Puppet shows, crafts, dancing and hay rides give kids an inside look at the natural world around them, while grown ups can join in on expert-led talks and demos. 431A Federal City Road, Pennington. If you haven’t visited Rockingham estate up in Kingston, Saturday is the perfect day to do it: Washington returns! Once the farm that housed George Washington, the estate is now a park and historic site (you’ve probably passed it traveling between Rocky Hill and Kingston.) On Sunday, to hear George muse on 1783, the war, and his future. FREE, 11-5pm. www.rockingham.net

The moon is up and the bikes are rolling! Mercer County Parks invite the community for a full moon bike ride through the rolling, paved trails at Mercer Meadows. Ride past Rosedale Lake and through the woods on a six mile ride. Starts at 9pm. $10 per rider, register at www.lhtrail.org

Find some family-friendly fun at the Princeton Airport this Sunday for Montgomery Fun Fest! The festival features 150+ booths with local businesses, artists, food and more. FREE, 12-5pm. www.montgomeryfunfest.com

The forecast looks like it will be the perfect fall weekend for a walk around Princeton.
