Our Weekend Picks: Indoor & Outdoor Fun

Saturday May 19
Since it’s looking like a rainy Saturday, why not turn to the Princeton University Art Museum for a little indoor fun? Their newest exhibit, “Frank Stella Unbound: Literature and Printmaking,” features the work of alumnus Frank Stella in honor of his 60th reunion. Have little ones? Grab one of the self guided kids’ activity books as you step inside the galleries for art-inspired fun. PS: museum admission is always FREE! artmuseum.princeton.edu

Pennington Day celebrates the historic town’s community and vendors, as Main Street is closed off to host a street festival full of kids activities, live performances, street food, shopping, and more. (As of now, it is ‘rain or shine,’ though heavy rain could result in a delay, so be sure to give it a Google before heading out!) FREE, 10am-4pm. https://www.facebook.com/PenningtonDayinMay/

If you’re not afraid of a little rain, register for the Baldpate Mountain Hike on the Summit Trail, hosted by Mercer County Parks. Park at Niederer’s Pond lot on Church Road in Titusville, then carpool to the trailhead nearby for a hike on the mountain. FREE, 1pm. Call to register: 609-737-0609

Runners are gonna get muddy for a good cause at The Watershed’s annual 5k & 10k Trail Run & Festival! The courses loop through the preserve’s fields and woods, ending with a festival at the Institute’s nature center. If you’re not running, or after you’ve crossed the finished line, explore the Butterfly House, listen to live music from The Dadz, grab food and drinks from River Horse beer, wine, and Ironbound Hard Cider as well as delicious local food by Antimo’s Italian Kitchen and desserts from Nina’s Waffles, and more. Race day registrations opens at 11am on Sunday, May 20. Race starts at 12 on Sunday: https://thewatershed.org/trail-run/
