Happy Summer Neighbors. I have been thoroughly enjoying summer and the longer, lazy days that have no more routine or plans beyond: wake up, eat, head to pool or beach, eat, sleep…repeat. Ahhhh Summer. Thought I would share the things that have made me happiest all summer long. We still have a month of summer to go…maybe one of these will become your favorites too. xoxo- Jyl, Style Editor at PrincetonScoop
1. My Hammam Towel
Handmade in Turkey, hammam towels are traditionally used at Turkish baths. The towels are highly absorbent (the more often they are used, the softer and more absorbent they become). Available in a variety of colors, each towel is woven from 100% Turkish cotton and finished with a hand-knotted fringe. They are ideal for the bath or beach and are a great for the beach or outdoor shower. You’re in luck, Jane Consignment carries them and they still have a few left.
Growing up with oily skin I never would have dreamed of putting oil on my face. Not until a friend who was working at MORE magazine gave me a sample. Hydrating, healing, wrinkle smoothing, and mood lifting, this light, subtly scented blend of Argan, Rosehip, Vitamin E, Bergamot, Neroli and Frankincense is bliss for your skin and nails. You can’t buy it locally that I know of…
3. Healthy Surprise Snack Boxes
If you find yourself seeking out new health food stores looking for snacks with actual nutritional benefits your job just got much easier. Healthy Surprise aims to deliver healthy snacks to your home on a monthly basis. We’re talking vegan, gluten free, soy-free, GMO-free. Different sized boxes, one time gifts or monthly subscriptions. They even ship world-wide so you can send a box to your best friend in London recovering from knee surgery. The assortment changes each month so you’ll never get bored. Yum and Yum. (PS. I plan to let my kids pick a healthy surprise every morning for their lunch boxes.)
4. Dr Bronner’s Peppermint Soap
Once thought of as “hippie soap” the story behind the soap is almost as good as the soap itself. There are many scents but the tingle of the peppermint makes me the happiest. You can buy a bottle at Whole Foods Princeton or Whole Earth market and you can watch the documentary on Netflix. I highly recommend both.
With gratitude for gorgeous weather, good friends, and lots of sunblock. Cheers – JYL.
