Uncorked: Princeton Corkscrew’s Wine Picks for October

Let us give you the Scoop on one of our most anticipated stops in downtown Princeton, The Princeton Corkscrew Wine Shop!
A few reasons why we love it:

• Their super friendly & knowledgeable staff always come to our rescue, whether we’re searching for an easy bottle for Chinese or pizza night, or shopping for gifts.
• Many of their bottles are under $15, but there’s always the special bottle to surprise the collector. (All of them are tasted by the staff!)
• The wines are artisanal, made by real farmers, from family-owned farms, who care about the land they work.
They’ll deliver your wine to your door. For free. For real!

We’re hooked; and so, we’ve asked The Corkscrew to pick four wines that reflect the shop’s philosophies. (PS: Sign up for The Princeton Corkscrew’s newsletter, with exclusive savings on the Corkscrew’s weekly wine picks.Read on, and raise a glass to the holidays!

2015 Domaine Fabrice Larochette Mâcon-Fuissé La Grande Bruyère
Domaine Larochette’s Mâcon-Fuissé is 100% Chardonnay. Its purity of fruit matches with superior winemaking to craft an elegant sipper that pairs perfectly with a variety of foods and numerous events. Toasted nuts and a hint of honeysuckle blossom tantalize your nose with a superb balance of fruits and structure mid-palate; the Mâcon-Fuissé is a quaffable gem, perfect for any night of the week. $15 per bottle.

2015 Bodega Sierra Norte Olcaviana
This flashy 100% Tempranillo is resplendent with rich, dark red fruit ― cherries and plums ― on the nose, touched with a
delicate floral note. Thepalate is vibrant and juicy, with just the right amount of acidity, while the soft tannins provide underlying structure to carry the fruit throughout the wine’s lengthy finish. This Spanish beauty can be drunk on its own or as an accompaniment to a variety of tapas, and light meat and pasta dishes. $11 per bottle.

2015 Roberto Ferraris I Suôrí Barbera d’Asti
Roberto’s 2015 I Suôrí Barbera d’Asti is jet black to the brim. Aromas of blackberries dusted with exotic spices billow from the glass. On the palate, the wine is wonderfully fruity — like a bowl of berries in the glass — but still super-fresh. The structure and length are classic Asti — mineral, bright and miles-long. It is the perfect house red to be enjoyed on its own, yet versatile enough to be paired with almost anything! $14.50 per bottle.

2013 Fiancetto Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Fiancetto’s 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon pours a deep ruby color. The wine is gorgeous in its aromatics: fresh black fruits, cedar, vanilla and a touch of baking spice. On the palate, the wine is lush and full, but possesses a refreshing liveliness that is characteristic of the stunning 2013 vintage. Baked blackberries, cassis and clove seamlessly blend together, leading into a long finish that is tinged with mocha. The wine’s tannins are prevalent but smooth, providing a lovely structure and ample canvas for the intense Cabernet flavors to dance on your palate. A wonderful pairing with all red meats ― grilled, roasted or braised. $30 per bottle
