It’s time to spring forward! Daylight savings time kicks off at 2 am Sunday morning, winter’s melting away with the snow, and we’ve got the scoop on the best ways to usher in the new season. Want to go green with farm fresh produce? Or maybe a St. Paddy’s Day celebration? Got ’em both. And speaking of celebrations, how about Pi Day and Geek Freak Weekend in celebration of Einstein’s birthday? Want more? How about celebrating Women’s History Month with a film festival? Whether you want to learn how to run a business from home, enjoy a classical concert, shop for handmade crafts, or stretch your imagination with electronic arts, read on for all the ways to celebrate and enjoy the weekend…

THURSDAY, MARCH 10th

Farm fresh

Get ready to enjoy the bounty at Princeton Farmers Market! It’s bursting with fresh produce, cheeses, breads, pastries, and juices. Did we mention the artisans and crafters? There’ll be pottery, jewelry, baskets, paintings, and more. The Winter Market happens at the Princeton Public Library from 11 am to 5 pm.

There’s no place like home…

… for making a living. Do you have what it takes to run a business from home? Find out at SCORE Princeton’s ‘Creating and Running a Business from Home’ seminar at the Hamilton Township Library from 6:45 to 8:45 pm. More great news: it’s free! Click here to register.

FRIDAY, MARCH 11th

Little Italy

What’s almost as good as seeing Italy? How about hearing it in a classical concert? ‘An Italian Excursion’ is presented by the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra at Richardson Auditorium in Princeton at 8 pm. The program features works by Mozart, Schubert, and Mendelssohn, with conductor and violinist Augustin Dumay. Tickets range from $20 to $82.

Women and film

Guess what? It’s Women’s History Month! Celebrate with the LUNAFEST film festival at the Lambertville Public Library from 7 to 8:20 pm, or 8:30 to 9:50 pm. Nine short films will inspire, inform and entertain. More good news? All proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Fund. Click here for tickets.

SATURDAY, MARCH 12th

Lights, sights and sound

Stretch your imagination with the New Jersey Festival of Electronic Arts at the Grounds for Sculpture from 1 to 8 pm. There’s live electronic music, a dance concert, and interactive exhibits. What’s super cool? Bring your own music or visual apps and they’ll plug you into a multimedia happening! Free with park admission. Rain date: March 13th.

Pi in the sky

Did you know that Einstein’s birthday is March 14 – 3.14 – the exact number of pi? Celebrate with Princeton’s Pi Day and Geek Freak Weekend starting at 3:14 pm on Friday, and at 10 am on Saturday and Sunday. Festivities include tours, pie eating contests, Einstein reenactors, airplane and dinky rides, contests, performances and more. Click here for exact times and location of events and festivities.

SUNDAY, MARCH 13th

Crafts in Cranbury

We love the art of crafts! This weekend is the 13th annual Cranbury Craft Show on Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm at Cranbury Elementary School. There’ll be jewelry, silks, ceramics, toys, wood crafts, furniture, florals, glass, clothing, and more. Admission is only $5 — $2 for seniors and $1 for children – but leave the littlest scoops at home… no strollers permitted.

Go green

Blow off the winter blues, and get green with the St. Patrick’s Weekend celebration at Crossing Vineyards and Winery in Washington Crossing from noon to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The Boys of County Bucks will be supplying the tunes from 1 to 4 pm on both days, and wine tastings will be available. Admission? Free!
