Our Weekend Picks

Friday, July 31
You’ve heard of bird watching, but what about butterfly watching? Take a trip to Howell Farm in Hopewell for a Butterfly Walk with the Mercer County Park Commission. You don’t need to be an experienced butterfly watcher to enjoy this trip – you’ll learn all about the fluttering bugs! FREE, register in advance. 1pm. www.mercercountyparks.org

Saturday, August 1
Learn something new this weekend with a workshop at Morven Museum that combines both art and nature. Arts Council of Princeton’s Kathleen Metaxas presents a Botanical Handmade Papermaking Workshop from 9:30am – 4pm. Register online: www.morven.org

Too hot to be outside? Bring the little ones to Princeton Public Library for an afternoon matinee. This weekend’s movie is ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy,’ starring goofy, lovable action hero, Chris Pratt (and don’t forget Bradley Cooper… as the voice of the wisecracking Rocket the Raccoon.) FREE, 3pm. www.princetonlibrary.org

It’s an artful afternoon for the whole family at the Historical Society of Princeton’s Updike Farmstead. ArtSpace presents plein-air painting, games and a scavenger hunt. While you’re there, check out the vintage photo exhibit! $4, 12-3pm. www.princetonhistory.org

Sunday, August 2
Everything’s Just Peachy at Terhune Orchards this weekend, as the farm celebrates peach season with the Just Peachy Festival! Enjoy peachy treats, wagon rides, farm animals, face painting and games, along with live music. Tickets are $5, or $12 if you’d like to participate in a food & wine tasting. 10am-5pm www.terhuneorchards.com
