On Wednesday, July 20th at the Updike Farmstead on Quaker Road in Princeton Township, the Historical Society of Princeton invites children and families to a super sweet activity – making ice cream the old-fashioned way!  Discover the natural ingredients that were historically grown crops and botanicals on the Updike Farmstead and learn how farmers used these ingredients to make ice cream!

They will provide an overview of farming historically at the Updike Farmstead and use fresh local Jersey produce to make sweet-corn ice cream and peach sorbet to enjoy.

On Wednesday, July 20th, the Updike Farmstead will be open from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.  Two artisanal ice cream and sorbet-making sessions will be held:  11:30 am – 12:15 pm and 1:15 pm – 2:00 pm.  The sessions are open to all ages six and up.

Register for either session now as space is limited (please call 609.921.6748 x100)  Cost for the ice cream event is $15 per child, which also includes admission to the farmstead and all the other fun activities, including arts and crafts, storytime, and a tour of the new farmhouse exhibition, Caring Kids in the Community.  Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on the lawn of the farmstead before or after your session!
