We invite you to a conversation between playwright Emily Mann and author Irene Dische about the ways in which their long, close friendship has shaped them and their work.Emily Mann is celebrating her 20th anniversary season as Artistic Director and Resident Playwright of McCarter Theatre in Princeton. Her numerous honors for artistic excellence include two Tony nominations, four Obie Awards, Peabody and Christopher Awards and the Dramatists Guild Hull-Warriner Award. In 2002, she received an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from Princeton University. Her recent credits include directing her acclaimed play Having Our Say at McCarter and Edward Albee’s Me, Myself & I, which is scheduled to open on Broadway in Spring 2010.

Irene Dische is a novelist and journalist who divides her time between Berlin and New York. Her books published in 25 countries have included international bestsellers. Her most recent novel, The Empress of Weekhawken, was published in the U.S. in 2007 and has been translated into 15 languages. Emily Mann has been working on a screenplay of Ms. Dische’s novel.
