Artist Cindy Besselaar Introduces New Paintings at ‘Art Jam’ Benefit

Peek into 19 Hulfish Street on Palmer Square in a few days and you’ll notice something special: a pop-up art gallery! It’s HomeFront’s annual ‘Art Jam’ exhibit, featuring local artists and benefitting the local nonprofit, which serves families in need in Mercer County.

It’s at this year’s Art Jam that artist Cindy Besselaar will be introducing her new body of work, ‘ColorScapes.’ These rich paintings are done in ‘verre eglomise,’ reverse painting and gilding on glass. Exploring the multifaceted and luminous layers in our natural landscape, Besselaar’s work is inspired by her love of nature, with techniques that compel viewers to reflect. In her bio, she explains, “The absence of time and space in her color studies creates an opportunity for reflection of the unknown– opening a window for contemplation and connection.”

Art Jam’s Opening reception takes place on Thursday, April 21 from 5-9pm in the Palmer Square, Princeton gallery space. If you can’t attend that, stop in while the show is up, or join on for the Closing Reception, being held Friday, May 6 from 6-8:30pm. 50% of the proceeds of Art Jam sales go to Homefront’s ArtSpace program.
